You can remove the water stain easily on oak which has been waxed by using Pure Beeswax.
Using a clean, dry cloth apply the beeswax onto the stain along the grain of the wood. Then using another clean, dry part of the cloth take it off again. The water stain should be gone. I have lots of oak throughout my house and water stains are easy to remove using that method on waxed surfaces. The one I prefer is Lord Sheraton Pure Beeswax Balsam. Johnson also do a good one.
    All the best
